Chess on the Steps is a fun take on a traditional quilt. New to improv? This pattern might just get you hooked. It’s a great quilt to try out a few techniques that you might not have done before. Have fun and play around with different colors and make it your own!

About the Designer
Krista discovered quilting at a local quilt shop in 2000. Within a few years she had joined two quilt guilds, was teaching workshops, running a popular day-retreat business, and quilting in every spare moment. Five years ago she decided to join the online quilting community and share her love of photography and quilting on her blog Poppyprint. Krista attended the first meeting of the Vancouver MQG in 2010 and has been an active member ever since. Her work has been published in Stitch, Quilter’s Connection and Australian Homespun magazines and Modern Blocks. Her first book of retreat-related projects (with Martingale) called Make It, Take It – 16 Cute and Clever Projects to Sew with Friends ships in February 2015.
