Janice Frisch

Hello! I’m Janice and I can’t remember not loving quilts. I’ve been actively quilting for twenty years but some of my earliest memories are “quilting” with glue and fabric from the scrap bag of a family friend. If it is textile-related, I’ve tried it!

My love of making quilts and needlework also extends to learning as much about the history of textile arts as I can. I turned that interest into advanced degrees in the history of women’s textile arts and folklore. Those have led to great opportunities to travel the world to do research and see some amazing textile art, which I am thrilled to share with you!

I give lectures on European influences in early American quilting and labeling your quilts. I also teach classes.

You can find my work published in Issues 02, 03, 04, and 05 of Modern Monthly and in the book “American Quilts in the Industrial Age” edited by Patricia Cox Crews and Carolyn Ducey.
