Join Kaitlin for an informative discussion on the ways you can bring your skills into your community and create change. Kaitlin is a volunteer seamstress at the Urban Peak Youth Shelter in Denver, Colorado. Unhoused youth often don’t carry much, but the items they do have are precious to them and when something breaks it can be devastating. Surprised by the need in her community, Kaitlin has volunteered her sewing skills and made a lasting impact. To help others do the same, she has created a template for how to engage with local aid organizations, tips for ways to approach unique challenges, and a packing list of materials. Additionally, Kaitlin will review the most common mending that takes place such as repairing zippers, hemming clothes, patching holes, and basic darning. If you’re looking for ways to use your skills to give back to your community, this is the lecture for you!
